Project 01 Reflection
This assignment honestly was a little scary. As I sat down to review my classes and their syllabi, I noticed this assignment. I hadn't read Professor Eyman's syllabus yet, so of course I was scared shitless. But because I realized he must have explained it somewhere, I dove right into the course guide. I wanted to anyway before class even started, but this also gave me another reason to do so. However, I didn't expect the assignment to lack instructions. I had never experienced anything like this. I was very used to being told what to do and how to do it. This was the start of the realization that this class would be different than anything I had ever done before. I like what I submitted for this project; however, I wish I had gone more in-depth with an extra document or something to explain the project more. This helped me start off well in the class, though.
Project 02 Reflection
When I was assigned this project, I instantly knew who I was going to do it with. My dad has been a great influence on me my whole life. His work ethic throughout his entire life is truly inspiring. Through our interview, I learned a lot that I applied in other projects. I wasn't sure how to present the information in a strong storytelling way. Since much of what I learned was how he applies certain skills to his job, I created a sort of playbook. I really liked the format I used. The colors also matched his job; since he works at FedEx, I used the same colors. Overall, I really liked this project.
Project 03 Reflection
For this project, it took me a bit to figure out what I wanted to question about learning. Because I wanted it to relate to something I was interested in at college. I decided to learn more about being a student in Luxembourg. I didn't know much about what a regular student does. I thoroughly enjoyed doing this. It further excited me about my plans to do this next year. I also really liked the medium that I used because I have never done anything like this before. I thought it would be the perfect medium for the information I learned.
Project 04 Reflection
I had no idea what to expect for this assignment, knowing who Eyman was at this point. I knew it would be crazy. I had fun doing it. Talking about this assignment with friends was hard sometimes because it wasn't easy to explain. Many of them did not get why I was even doing it, though. If I am being honest, I didn't know either, but I kind of just went with the flow when it came to doing each activity. Even though it was hard to bring myself out of my comfort zone, I had fun experimenting with everything.
Project 05 Reflection
This assignment was also new to me. I had no idea what a Rube Goldberg was. Also, I wasn't that close with my FYIC group yet. We hadn't spent much time together. As well, I felt as though my members and I were kind of rushed due to time constraints. It was very hard to find a time that worked for us. We also struggled a bit to come up with new ideas to try. Ultimately, we came up with a pretty good idea; however, I think we didn't seem proud/excited because we were worried about time.
Project 06 Reflection
For this project, I had to think of a failure I had. I really pushed myself, but the failure that continuously came to mind was the one I had with a previous friend. This project really got me thinking about my life and very much was something that took up a lot of my mind. I believe doing this project, and the whole process, gave me some relief through it all. I am happy with the submission medium I used as well. I think it told the story I wanted it to tell.
Project 07 Reflection
Finally, for this project, I also had no idea what to expect. Still, with this one, I felt much more experienced in coming up with ways to do the activities. I felt like I had a whole lot more experience doing this, weirdly enough. Even though, because of some illness, I wasn't able to do my best, I still think I created something I'm proud of. I experimented on the days I was not as able to do it in a different way that still made them fun. I also enjoyed spending time with my family. Overall, I value the experience.
My Realization
Process will always outweigh polished perfection in real creative friction.
Embracing messy iterations at the Farmer School of Business changed how I evaluate every single prompt.
